Recently, I decided to give myself a decorating challenge… I set out to find 10 items under $10.00, right here at Piper Classics. I was looking for seasonal, springtime products that would freshen up my home. You see, I work here at the warehouse and sometimes find myself roaming through the aisles, feasting my eyes on all the latest and greatest products on the very tall shelves. Sometimes, I’ll spot something that I love but forgot we still had here in the warehouse… and then, I rush off to place a new order! Continue Reading

1. Made in the U.S.A.
This American-born company is something to write home about. Their home decor division, which makes products of exceptional quality, came about as a result of their awareness of the “waste” being produced from their main sawmill and lumber company. After paying close attention to the amount of wood by-products were left after the processing of the trees, they decided to find a way to create something from that wood. This company holds “themselves environmentally responsible” (their own words) regarding the production process that they use in their factories. The home decor division, that produces the signs you see here, uses the boards and wooden shims that are cut off of the logs and boards in the lumber facility.
Not only do they use by-products to create these signs, but sawdust generated in their factories, helps to power buildings in their industrial complex and small pieces of wood chipped off and discarded in the manufacturing process are used as mulch for their landscaping operation.
This innovative and forward-thinking mindset has created a company that is earth-friendly, utilizing 100% of the trees they harvest! Now that is a progressive business!

Fall is just around the corner. This is the time to celebrate surviving the brutal summer heat and transition into the best time of the year. September through November represents the most enjoyable three months of the calendar for an array of reasons. While many people point to the beautiful foliage as the season’s most endearing characteristic, there is so much more to love about fall. Continue Reading
The days have suddenly gotten shorter, and the nights cooler. In the blink of an eye, the deep green leaves of summer are turning subtle shades of yellow and orange. Soon the trees will fully be ablaze with deep reds and the golden shades of autumn. Fall is here!
The signs are clear; there’s a bit of nip in the air, jacketed children wait on street corners for the early morning bus ride, the summer perennials are fading fast while the vibrant shades of Mums and Asters take over in the fall garden. Roadside stands offer pumpkins and gourds for sale. And perhaps most telling coffee shops have added pumpkin and spice flavors to their chalkboard menus.
The autumn season marks the transition in nature from summer into winter by the gathering of friends and family for the purpose of harvesting crops. In years past, the harvest season was one of great importance. It was often quite literally, the season that made survival during the winter months a possibility. Families, and whole communities, would gather together to work, bring in the crops, and celebrate nature’s provision for the cold months to come. Continue Reading
